La Haute-Pilais est l'un des établissements le plus ancien de la ville de Chantepie, situé près de Rennes. Il se trouve à environ, 1 Km du bourg, à 100 mètres au Sud de la route de Domloup et à environ 4 Km du centre de Rennes. Les registres de la mairie en font mention dès 1502, dans la seigneurie de Villegast. Était donc cité le domaine de la Pilais : le regroupement du manoir de la Haute-Pilais et de sa métairie, la Basse-Pilais formé de 5 ou 6 maisons.
